doesn't much matter, as lossless you can easily unpack (with this) and use flac or whatever compression you like.

not joking. graphics-wise, almost any game on the market today beats continuum. no one can argue that the graphics are dated. if graphics are all you care about, go play another game. but the sheer playability (and replayability) is second to none. i have never played a game that has kept me so interested over so many years. i really enjoyed games like diablo, c&c, and counterstrike. but let's face it-- after a while, those games get old, and some company eventually rehashes the same game with the same play style with better graphics and better gameplay. continuum is totally different. don't be fooled by its incredibly simplistic-looking 2-d interface. the different gameplay scenarios are endless. you like 1 on 1 fighting? continuum has it. smaller team action like 4 on 4? no problem. you against the other 50 people in the playing arena? check. massive free-for-all games with with 90 people simultaneously? yup. let me tell you what i thought, the first time i saw this game. it was back in 1995 or so. i saw my roommate playing it on my pc, and i said "what kind of stupid game is that? why don't you play command & conquer instead? that looks sooooo dumb." then he said, "yeah, it looks dumb...but you have to try it. i've been playing for 6 hours, and i can't stop." you simply have to try it. don't discard it after playing it for 1, 2, or even 3 hours. get used to it and try to understand the way the game works and how to get better. everyone who plays continuum goes through a terribly frustrating learning curve and dies hundreds of times before they begin to understand how it all works. and once you start getting better, you can bet that you'll be playing for a long, long time. this game has far greater staying power than other games. i've played all the cool games. i have my fun the quakes, diablos, and warcrafts. they're really great fun for a few weeks...even a few months. but in the end, i always go back to subspace. it's simply the best. oh....and the chat interface makes the game extremely cool, too. once you get used to it, it becomes second nature. you can have a 8 or 9 chat channels with 10 people on each channel, if you want. someone mentioned that "only geeks play this game." well, you're partially right. there are a lot of geeks who play this game. surprisingly, there are a lot of very normal people who are closet continuum addicts. they play continuum and get their kicks killing people from all over the world. and then they go back to their daily lives. (yes, you know who you are...) ;-) bottom line: this game is extremely fun and extremely addictive once you understand how to play it. but you can only enjoy it if you try it out and give it a chance. have fun, gland ps - play this game at your own risk. once you start enjoying it, you will be addicted.

i installed the vista sp1 beta late 2007 and when the official roll out came around, windows update failed to recognize my copy of vista and i ended up doing i full reinstall. it took me a month to get it back in vista runs fine now, photoshop is snappy and all my drivers work fine. it's just like microsoft intended it to be. it's not broke, so i'm not going to try to improve it with a service pack that may do more harm than good. i will take the update when it shows up as the final version.

i recently purchased a nifty hp pavilion dm1 notebook. it came with windows 7 64 bit and it was doing just fine. then, a few days ago i made a very stupid move and downloaded the windows 8 pre-release evaluation. what i didn't know was that once downloaded win 8 can't be removed. i tried to bring it back to factory settings, but windows 8 wiped that out, as well as all other hp programs that came with the note book. as i write, my bluetooth still doesn't work.i had to find hp drivers for my notebook to try and bring back to standard. some of them work and some don't. since my hp notebook doesn't come with a dvd optical drive i had to order one and also had to order a recovery disk from hp. as soon as these items arrive, i'll be nuking win 8 and get back to using win 7, which when you don't have it, one knows how good it was in for win 8, it has some interesting do-dads. the start screen looks like my wife's lumia and quite frankly it sucks. to me it's gimicky and a bit childish. it gets in the way of doing what you want to do do with the computer. i could go on, but i've said enough. in short, i won't be shelling out any shekels for win 8, as it already has cost me a considerable amount of money attempting to get my new notebook back to its original condition. and yes, i was stupid.

plz betanews, get it right... this is the "via hyperionpro 5.01beta" and it only have driver for viamach, viaagp, viaraid and raidtool... not the normal "via hyperion 4in1".from viaarena : "there are three main differences between a via hyperion 4in1 driver package and a via hyperionpro package, detailed below. all other recommendations remain. 1) the hyperionpro package includes sata/raid drivers whilst the hyperion 4in1 package does not. the extra contents makes the hyperionpro package over 5mb larger than the hyperion 4in1 package. therefore if you are not utilizing a via sata or raid controller in your system, the hyperion 4in1 package may be a better download choice. 2) the hyperionpro package supports 64 bit microsoft windows xp and 64 bit windows server 2003 whilst the hyperion 4in1 package only supports 32 bit operating systems. 3) the hyperionpro package does not contain the ide filter driver. for win9x/me/2k the ide filter driver is needed to support udma 6. the ide filter driver is not needed for winxp sp1 and later microsoft operating systems. "

sadly, my previous review still holds true. opera's rushed releases shows a real lack of concern over quality. they simply are no longer listening to their loyal users who are reporting more and more bugs and regressions, seemingly in vain.for me, flash video players smear down the page when scrolling and the extension preference over sight are reasons enough for me to not only not upgrade but perhaps begin looking elsewhere
